Our client is actively looking for a Application Engineer- Motion Control.  Responsible for providing technical application support for the development and implementation of customer applications dealing with complex precision systems. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

  • Work in collaboration with field sales in actively pursuing targeted industries opportunities and accounts by using internal selection tools.
  • Collaborate efforts with component vendors to integrate Sumitomo Products, into designed prepared packages, to offer to specific industry targets.
  • Generate solution proposals based on customer application needs in combination with internal product capabilities.
  • Review customer inquiries and project requirements to establish scope of supply limits and costing
  • Develop detailed comments to client project specifications
  • Evaluate non-standard product requests, applications, and capabilities
  • Work with Sales, Customers and Vendors to obtain project specific information and develop project equipment applications
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
  • Support Domestic product launches by reviewing technical attributes and collateral
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated
  • Provide Training to key Sales Representatives on new and existing products for Precision/Automation Products
  • Attend Industry specific events as technical Subject Matter Expert on an as needed basis.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with International and global colleagues on product specific developments and customer needs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) with at least five (5) years’ experience in the rotating equipment industry.
  • Minimum of One (1) year experience in precision lost motion gearing products.
  • General knowledge of Servo Motors and their Applications
  • Strong working knowledge in Project Management Body of Knowledge
  • Practical knowledge of Lean Six Sigma CI best practices, White belt level
  • Any additional essential skills and/or knowledge as shown in the HRIS Career & Education > Skills section for incumbents holding this job title.
